The other name for LERS is the Society of Lakota Episcopalianism. “Lakota Episcopalianism” refers to the kind of Episcopal traditions and beliefs which are common across the Lakota faithful within the Episcopal Church.
Some of these traditions are developed from Lakota spiritual practices, while others are Episcopal practices adapted to Lakota cultural sensibilities. Lakota Episcopalianism is an “ethnic fusion” or “ethnoreligious” way of being.
